Things To Do In Wilmington NC: Beer, Boats & Battleships

The BrewBoat Wilmington may be new to the Wilmington area, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know a thing or two about having fun here in the Port City! This city provides so much for tourists and locals alike that there is always something to occupy your time, especially during the weekends. We have complied a list of our favorite things to do in Wilmington NC, so take a few minutes to read and feel free to suggest anything that we may have missed.

Wilmington Ale Trail

Some say that Wilmington is the number one spot on the North Carolina coast to enjoy local craft beer. Wilmington is home to over a dozen craft breweries, all of which are unique and offer delicious brewskis. Our favorite Wilmington breweries are the Broomtail Craft Brewery, Edward Teach Brewing and of course the Wilmington Brewing Company. You would be doing yourself an injustice if you visited Wilmington without sampling our local craft brews.

USS North Carolina Battleship

The lead ship of North Carolina-class battleship and the fourth warship in the U.S. Navy to be named for the state of North Carolina is now an amazing memorial that honors the 11,000 North Carolinians of all branches of service who gave their lives in World War II. Explore 9 levels of the ship, including the mess decks, berthing areas, engine room, bridge and so much more. Be prepared to hear ‘I sunk your battleship.’ over and over again!

Eat, Drink & Be Merry

In case you didn’t realize, we are huge fans of beer. So any place that has some bomb bar food to go with said beer, we are all for it! Fork N Cork in Wilmington is right up our alley. Unique & tasty offerings that pair extremely well with the local craft beer. We highly recommend the Texas Poutine (smoked brisket, cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce on fries), the Duck Wings with Hot Honey Garlic sauce and the Pimento Chz Burger (because Pimento cheese is the bomb).

Now, obviously this a short list, but we also wanted to give respect to the Riverwalk, Wilmington Historic District as well as the many gardens and museums in the area. Wilmington is an amazing city and we are so happy to be a part of it. If you wish to see the city from a different perspective, please schedule a cruise with us on the BrewBoat Wilmington!
